Cytostatic response
Cytostasis (cyto – cell; stasis – stoppage) is the inhibition of cell growth and multiplication. Cytostatic refers to a cellular component or medicine that inhibits cell division. Cytostasis is an important prerequisite for structured multicellular organisms. Without regulation of cell growth and division only unorganized heaps of cells would be possible. Chemotherapy of cancer, treatment of skin diseases and treatment of infections are common use c… WebDec 12, 2024 · An example of a cytostatic response is given for NSCLC_013T treated with gefitinib (Fig. 6 C). The use of Total Green Area was a more standardized parameter since it was less susceptible to variability compared to the Total Green Intensity parameter (e.g. led intensity, exposure time, and dye concentration).

WebMay 24, 2024 · Cytotoxic drugs can kill cells or stop them from growing and dividing. Genotoxic drugs cause damage to the DNA inside the cells. Carcinogens damage DNA in cells. This causes mutations that can lead to cancer. Mutagenic substances can harm the genes in a developing fetus. WebFeb 26, 2007 · In contrast, in mink lung epithelial cells, ectopic N1ICD inhibited the suppressive effect of TGF-β1 (Fig. S1 C). This highlights the cell context dependency of the cytostatic response and confirms a recent study that shows c-Myc up-regulation by Notch signaling, which counteracts cytostasis by TGF-β (Rao and Kadesch, 2003).
